CANADIAN ALTERNATIVE SPACE ROCK BAND, BASLER, ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE, “SWIMMING IN OBLIVION”!
The new Basler single “Swimming In Oblivion” is being released on Friday June 25, 2021. The highly anticipated single is about the uncertainty of our lives and it is especially fitting with the current world situation. Since the beginning of 2020 the world changed and everyone was advised to stay home and not gather. This made writing, recording and practicing as a band very hard and because of this, Cameron Basler, the Lead Vocalist for Basler, fills many positions in this project. He wrote the music and the lyrics and plays all the instruments on the song as well as engineering and producing the song which he did in his basement studio. The mixing duties were handled by Cameron’s longtime friend and mixing guru Phil Anderson, who has worked with Econoline Crush, One Bad Son, Tupelo Honey and Seek Irony. The mastering was done by world renowned mastering engineer, Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering who has worked with some serious talent such as Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Yngwie Malmsteen, Yes, Queensryche, Rob Halford, Lita Ford and most recently mastered the Girls5Eva Original Soundtrack. The artwork for this release came from the talents of Patrick Ennis from Edmonton who specializes in surrealism and cosmic paintings. Cameron chose Patrick’s art for the cover because, “His work really fits in with what the song was saying and the kind of music I write, as well, he is a local artist which I love.”
Swimming In Oblivion will be available for streaming and download on all the major sites like Spotify, Soundcloud, Bandcamp and AppleMusic as well as on the Basler website, www.basler.ca.
Basler plans on releasing more new music over the course of the next year and hopes to play some live shows if regulations allow. Stay tuned for online performances, broadcast live from “Basler’s Basement”.
Basler (Baz-ler) is the melding of the styles of Gritty Grunge, Slithering Shred, Glitzy Glam and Psychedelic Pop. Bursting at the seams with pure guitar energy.
